$6 Million Van Cleef & Arpels Counterfeit Jewelry seized at Miami Customs

The U.S. Customs and border protection (CPB) announced in last month that when pieces of counterfeit jewelry arrived at Miami International Airport from Hong Kong with a value of an estimated $6 million, a Miami customs stop seized all pieces. Of the 720 pieces that arrived, they found that the pieces were bearing Van Cleef & Arpels copyrighted designs. This was one of the largest seizures in the watch and jewelry category by value, which overtook the number one category, handbags and wallets. China is the leading source of producers of counterfeit luxury goods, followed by Hong Kong. This news followed soon after the announcement that the US and China agreed to improve efforts to fight against counterfeits coming into the country.
